The Original
Einstein
“Tiny Einy”
Einstein is the original — the dog who started it all.
He joined our family in 2013, a few years before the Miniature American Shepherd was officially recognized by the AKC. To be fully transparent, Einstein is a “Mini Aussie” and while not registered or titled, he’s been a beloved and integral part of our lives for over a decade.
I grew up admiring Australian Shepherds and always dreamed of having one of my own. When I discovered “Mini Aussies,” I was drawn to the idea of all that heart, intelligence, and drive in a smaller package. Einstein fulfilled that dream and became the foundation of my love for the breed.
In his younger years, Einstein worked alongside my husband doing geese abatement at the Kahkwa Country Club in Erie, Pennsylvania. Despite his small size, he was fearless and focused, a little dog with a big job and an even bigger heart.
Now in retirement, he’s enjoying a slower pace, most often found curled up at home, always ready for snuggles, and never far from one of us. He’s known for his signature head tilt, a look that melts hearts and has secured him plenty of snacks over the years.
He may not have titles or pedigree, but Einstein is, and always will be, at the center of our hearts.
