Maisel
Maisel is a sweet and sassy redhead who ruled the ring (and our household) with confidence, charisma, and just the right amount of attitude. With exceptional structure, powerful movement, and endless drive, she earned her AKC Championship and Grand Championship while titling in eight different AKC sports — a true embodiment of versatility and type.
She has a personality all her own. Maisel carries herself like royalty, often giving the impression that she’s simply tolerating the antics of others. But if you’re lucky enough to be accepted into her inner circle, she drops the royal act entirely, erupting into uncontrollable butt wiggles and her signature nose-booping kiss that tends to land squarely on your face.
Maisel is intensely food and toy-motivated, which makes her not only fun to train but fast and focused in the ring. Her drive is matched by a lovely off-switch, making her an easy travel companion and a joy to live with on the road. She has been a competitive partner in agility, obedience, rally, scent work, and more - always giving it her all, and always keeping things interesting.
As my foundation bitch, Maisel exceeded every hope I had for combining conformation quality with true working ability. She’s been one of the top-performing dogs in our breed and has more than earned her retirement.
Life in Retirement
These days, Maisel is focused on her favorite sport: scent work. She’s actively pursuing her overall Master title, and her searches are just as bold and assertive as her personality, complete with her signature "HEY! Here's the source! PAY ME!" alert style that never fails to make me smile. We also continue to dabble in agility, rally, obedience, and her beloved lure coursing, which brings out her inner wild child.
Maisel has been officially retired from breeding, but her influence at Cleverest is far from over. She produced five incredible puppies, including Leviosa and Lincoln, who remain part of the program. She was a devoted and nurturing mother, choosing to nurse her puppies until the day they left. Her blend of elegance, humor, drive, and heart lives on through them, and always will.
